Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 programs introduce many skills to prepare children spiritually, socially, and academically. Spiritually, the students learn about prayer, and about Jesus, through stories, art, and music. Socially, the children learn how to get along with others, share, pay attention, follow directions, and communicate. The children learn how to express emotions appropriately, express their creativity, and learn about math and literacy. The students participate in science experiences, and physical education classes. Our program is a full-day program.
Please note:Kindergarten builds upon and reviews the skills taught in Pre-K program. In addition to core subjects, such as Math, ELA, Social Studies, and Science, our caring teachers share our Catholic faith with our students, through music, prayer, and cooperative learning. Our “Prayer Partners” program allows the students to learn how to work cooperatively with our older students, celebrating holidays, reading books, and other activities. Through Art, students improve upon their fine motor skills. Students begin to learn how to recognize and use letters, rhymes, and build a site work vocabulary and develop the skills needed to read. After a brief rest after lunch, students continue work on centers, and literacy units, and centers such as writing activities, coloring, blocks, and puzzles, among others. Physical education is a favorite activity, along with other “specials.” Our Kindergarten begins the use of the “Wonders” series in the ELA classroom. This blends many activities with literature to bring the world of reading and writing to our students. The series is used throughout the elementary grades.
Activities begin in our Pre-K classes and many continue through middle school. Some activities include:
